Got a good rate at Ace online for 13 day rental through Hotwire. After taking the shuttle to the remote Ace location and processing paperwork they would not accept my credit card for CDW and liability waiver. Said I had to buy their insurance at $16/day. That’s more than $200 extra added on to the original rental price. Also not legal to decline credit card coverage I later found out. Booked another car while still at Ace and took shuttle back to airport. Smooth rental from Advantage.

Ace rep gave some feeble reasons why they do this but I refused to argue. On the plus side the shuttle drivers were friendly and courteous.

Since I was by myself it was a bit of a hassle sorting new rental. Imagine a family with kids after a long flight. Most would likely throw in the towel and pay for the coverage.

I had booked through Hotmail who has a no cancel no refund policy. However, after contacting cc company and Hotwire I received a full refund. Hotwire very friendly and apologetic.

NO ACE, be warned.
